Shri Chowdary, popularly known as Sujana Chowdary after his business group, has been an entrepreneur and led the Hyderabad-based Sujana Group of Industries with immense success before retiring from all business commitments to enter public life.
Shri Chowdary was elected to Rajya Sabha in 2010 and served the Upper House as a Member of Parliament (MP) till 2 April 2022. He held the position of the Minister of State for Science & Technology & Earth Sciences in the NDA Government between 2014-18.
For the first time in his politial career, Shri Chowdary particpated in direct elections in 2024, getting elected to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Vijayawada West constituency with a huge margin.
Imbued with a deep sense of social responsibility and financial acumen, Shri Chowdary continues to work for the betterment of society through multifarious activities cutting across business and politics.
Shri YS Chowdary has carved a niche for himself in the fiercely competitive worlds of both business and politics. Though hailing from a highly respected family of civil servants, Shri Chowdary never considered a regular job after obtaining an engineering degree in post-graduation. The young Chowdary saw himself as a job creator rather than a job seeker.
